The school hosted the Grade 12 Valedictory Ceremony. The Guest Speaker inspired the grade 12's to aim high and to be compassionate citizens. Congratulations to every award winner and we trust that they will do us proud in the final examinations.

School Fees for 2020

At the AGM held on Saturday 5 October 2019 a decision was taken by the majority of parents present to increase school fees for 2020 to R10.500 per learner. A discount of R525.00 is applicable for full payment of fees by 31 March 2020. Exemptions and partial exemptions will be made available for persons to qualifying learners. This should be applied for, from 14 November 2019 and the closing date is 21 February 2020 from 08:00 to 13:00 daily at the finance office. Please be informed that you MUST apply in person. Exemption forms WILL NOT be given to any learner. Kindly take note that NO EXTENSION for late application will be granted. I trust that all learners who will be attending AGHS have returned their re-registration form. Kindly pay a deposit of R2000 towards 2020 school fees as soon as possible. A textbook handling fee of R500 is due by 4 December 2019 for all Grade 12 learners of 2020 and 17 January 2020 for Grade 9, 10 and 11. This will expedite textbook distribution. Please note that there is no exemption on the textbook handling fee.

RCL 2020

The RCL representatives will be elected by 31 January 2020.

Identity documents

All current Grade 11 learners should be in possession of a valid South African identity document for registration of the Grade 12 examination by 4 December 2019. All immigrant learners should ensure that their documentation is in order for this purpose. Certified copies of documents should be sent to school by 4 December 2019.

Examination 2019

The class of 2019 (Grade 12's) will start their examination on Wednesday 23 October 2019 (English Home Language P1) and end the examination on Tuesday 26 November 2019 (English Home Language P3). Results will be released between 3 and 6 January 2020. We wish them well and trust that they will continue in producing excellent results as it is in keeping with the school's history. Grade 8's to 11's will start the examination on Tuesday 29 October. School will be dismissed at 12 daily, during the exam time. Kindly adjust transport arrangements accordingly.

2019 year end arrangements

The school year end on 4 December 2019. All parents are reminded that reports will be issued on 4 December 2019. In exceptional cases, where a learner cannot collect a report, a letter requesting permission for an adult to collect the report should be addressed to the principal. Reports will be issued in the form class but if the teachers are off marking Grade 12 exams, please consult the secretaries at reception for further direction. Lost and damaged textbooks can be replaced by paying an amount of R250.00 per book at the Accounts Office. Transfer cards will only be issued to parents. Kindly make your request by 28 November 2019 for a transfer.

School Bus levy

At the AGM held on Saturday 5 October 2019 the following resolution was taken by parents present: All learners registered for the 2020 Academic year is required to pay a compulsory once off levy of R100.00 to be utilized as a deposit for the purchase of a school bus. Kindly pay the R100 by 4 December 2019 latest.


We will be outsourcing the running of the tuckshop for 2020 - kindly submit tenders to the Finance Office by 15 November 2019 should you be interested.
